Sires Produce Stakes

The Sires Produce Stakes horse races have been adopted by five Australian states; Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia. Throughout the various states the races are held by the respective state race clubs and differ in Group status. However, each of the five races are for two-year-old horses at set-weights to really show the nation the future stars of Australian horse racing.

The VRC Sires Produce Stakes is the first to occur on the Australian horse racing calendar. Held by the Victorian Racing Club it is a Group 2 race forming part of the illustrious Melbourne Racing Carnival and competed over 1400m.

The WATC Sires Produce Stakes, AJC Sires Produce Stakes and the SA Sires Produce Stakes all occur in April, and in 2010, on the same day.

The WATC Sires Produce Stakes is held by the West Australian Turf Club and is a Group 3 race which takes place over 1400m at the Ascot Racecourse in Perth.

Held at the Randwick Racecourse in Sydney by the Australian Jockey Club, the AJC Sires Produce Stakes is the most elite of all five Sires Produce Stakes. It is a Group 1 race which is competed over 1400m and is part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

The SA Sires Produce Stakes is held at the Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide by the South Australia Jockey Club. It is the longest of the Sires Produce Stakes being run over 1600m.

Finishing up the Sires Produce Stakes Campaign on the Australian racing calendar for the year is the BRC Sires Produce Stakes. Held at Eagle Farm Racecourse in Brisbane by the Brisbane Racing Club, the BRC Sires Produce Stakes occurs in May and is a Group 2 event which is run over 1400m.
