2011 VRC Sire’s Produce Stakes Tips – Flemington

March 10th, 2011

The 2011 VRC Sire’s Produce Stakes is the first of the Group 2 events to be run at Flemington on Saturday March 12th and there a few top tips which should be close to the prize.

Our pick to claim the title is Masthead on the back of a very solid run in the Blue Diamond Stakes last start beaten only by Hallowell Belle and the freak of nature Sepoy.

Before that he won the Inglis two-year-old Classic at Mornington showing good late pace.

He starts the 2011 Sire’s Produce Stakes from barrier seven which is closer than last start plus he sheds a kilogram.

In second spot is the current Luxbet favourite Helmet with the prime gate number one.

The colt has won his last two races in handicap events at Rosehill, both by more than two lengths.

He sheds four kilograms from that last victory and the Peter Snowden trained horse looks in fantastic condition.

In third spot we’ve found plenty of value about #5 Rockshaft.

Well into double figure odds this horse is dropping two kilograms from his last start win in the Breeders Stakes at Morphettville.

He’s won two in a row now and will probably look to go forward from barrier nine to give himself every chance.

Rounding out your top four never discount the work of John McArdle’s Delago’s Lad.

He placed sixth in the Blue Diamond Stakes against very good competition after a third in the Inglis Classic.

It’s also worth remembering that on debut this horse was only beaten a length by Sepoy , not a bad second place.
