All Too Hard is being aimed at the 2012 AJC Sires Produce Stakes after being withdrawn from the 2012 Golden Slipper field this weekend.

The half-brother to Black Caviar has won all three of his previous race starts and was the race favourite for the 2012 Golden Slipper.

Co-trainer John Hawkes opted to run All Too Hard in the 2012 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes as his first taste of Group 1 racing.

“He’s only young,” Hawkes said.

“Golden Slippers are very, very tough races. There’s a lot of aggression and thrashing and bashing.

“In some ways I wish he was running.

“If he had run and won it would be a real fairy tale but things can always work the wrong way.

The decision to run All Too Hard in the 2012 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes meant Hawkes sacrificing possible winnings of $200,000 as the winning trainers in a Golden Slipper.

“I’ve never done anything for the money,” he said.

“It’s not all about money – if you are successful money follows anyway.

“If you haven’t got your health and you haven’t got your family you’ve got nothing.

“I’ve always looked after the horse.”
