Trainer Mick Price has confirmed exciting two-year-old prospect Pressing will make a debut appearance north of the border in the 2014 Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1350m) at Brisbane’s Doomben Racecourse on May 24th ahead of a likely appearance in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m).

Contesting a perfect record of two wins from as many starts since debuting on track this year, Price told Sky Racing he is confident the Sebring colt will handle the reverse way of going consistent with Queensland racing events.

“I am conscious that he has had two runs here and he has gone up there pretty fit” Price said.

“In the back of your mind, you are hoping that they thrive up there because they go into the Sires at Doomben reverse way and it is a new environment.

“If he races well, he will race in the J.J. Atkins, but if we think that he has done enough we can always spell him up there.

“He is a robust little colt and he is tough.

“As long as he does well and thrives up there he will have those two runs.”

Debuting with an impressive turn of foot to overcome a talented field by nearly a length in the Mindy Green 2.y.o. Plate (1200m) on April 12th, Pressing continued to stamp his claims as a leading contender for the major two-year-old events throughout the 2014 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival when strolling home to win the Listed Sky High Mt Dandenong Stakes (1200m) by nearly four lengths last time out on May 3rd.

While betting fields for the 2014 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes are yet to appear, Pressing is currently offered as outright third favourite for success in the 2014 J.J. Atkins at a quote of $6.50.

Breaking through to win the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben last time out, Brazen Beau is clear favourite for success at current $3 odds, ahead of Looks Like The Cat ($6).
