Blueberry Hill and Wicked Intent ran first and second in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) a fortnight ago and currently share the top line of 2015 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes betting with Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote of $5 each, ahead of Payroll ($5) and Counterattack ($6).

Will Blueberry Hill post a second Group 2 victory, with Wicked Intent return to the winner’s circle or will one of their many talented rivals post an upset?

Counterattack ($6)

Allocated the ideal barrier 6, Counterattack has been confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman in the 2015 BRC Sires’ Produce and offers exceptional value for money at current $6 odds for success. Finishing outside the first three only once in five career starts, the Redoute’s Choice colt finished second in two talent rich Sydney sprints in January before returning to the paddock. Having boxed on for fourth in the Champagne Classic, Counterattack is trained by Brisbane Carnival two-year-old specialist Chris Waller has is more than worth consideration for a bet.

Wicked Intent ($5)

The stable star of Chris Munce, Wicked Intent will need luck in running from barrier 14 in the BRC Sires’ Produce but undoubtedly has the talent to finish in the first three once more. Posting three wins and two minors through six career starts, the Wicked Style colt won each of his first three races including the Listed Phelan Ready Plate (1050m); running second in the Group 3 McLachlan Stakes (1200m) and returning to the paddock after failing to match the late pace when sixth in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas (1200m). Confirmed to be partnered by last start hoop Damien Browne, Wicked Intent arguably offers the best value for money as a selection in a Sires’ Produce quinella or trifecta bet.

Pepperano ($12)

Pepperano displayed a keen turn of foot to run on for third in the Champagne Classic but will also need early luck to figure from barrier 13. Running second in the Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas most notably through her maiden campaign, the Court Command filly won the Montezumas Caloundra Handicap (1000m) with ease despite a less-than polished performance first-up this time. Sure to be boosted by last start hoop Tye Angland, Pepperano is weighted well at just 55kgs.
