2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes Tips and Betting Preview

April 29th, 2016

Twelve runners will line up for Saturday’s Group 3 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Smart Manoeuvre has returned to racing in good form this time and remains outright $3.30 favourite in 2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Sweet Varden ($5), Outback Rain and Flying Jess; currently sharing the third line at generous $6.50 quotes.

Will Smart Manoeuvre justify favouritism and win the 2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Sweet Varden ($5)

Sweet Varden has steadily built to the task this time and appears primed for a return to winning form third-up in the 2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes. Debuting to racing for fourth in the Listed Kingdom Stakes (1000m) at Sandown in November before immediately returning to the paddock, the Jimmy Choux filly resumed this time for third in the Steve Davis Handicap (1000m) before running on for second in the Ubet Handicap (1100m) most recently on April 2nd. Sweet Varden may require some luck in transit from barrier 10 but will have no problem performing to a high standard with only 55.5kgs in tow.

2nd

Outback Rain ($6.50)

Trainer David Brideoake has a big opinion out Outback Rain and is confident the conditions of the 2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes figure as an ideal black type launch pad for the filly. Debuting to racing for fourth in an Echuca minor over 1100m on April 1st, the daughter of Artie Schiller will carry winning form into the SA Sires’ Produce Stakes after taking out the Racing.com Maiden Plate (1200m) on April 17th. Drawn ideally in barrier 2, Outback Rain will be partnered by in-form hoop Daniel Moor.

3rd

Toyshop ($17)

Toyshop undoubtedly faces the biggest test of her small racing career to date in the 2016 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes but carries competitive form into the race and is arguably over the odds at her current quote. Trialling well in the lead-up to her debut, the daughter of More Than Ready suffered a laceration during the running of the Vet’s Day 10th Anniversary Maiden (1050m) on April 13th but displayed plenty of ability in running on late for third.
