Local hope Nikitas clearly needed a run when finishing eighth in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) first-up, but will carry plenty of condition into his second appearance this time in the 2016 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Stamping himself as one to watch with an impressive performance for success in the Canadian Club Handicap (1200m) on debut in early December, Nikitas made a commendable transition to black type company when third in the Group 3 McLachlan Stakes (1200m) on Boxing Day.

Ending his maiden campaign second in Magic Millions 2.y.o Guineas (1200m) on January 9th, the Snitzel colt should lay a good account for himself in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Leading Sydney trainers Chris Waller and John O’Shea are set to be represented in the 2016 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes after including Earth and Souchez respectively in nominations.

Earth was unable to make much of an impact when seventh in the Champagne Classic a fortnight ago, but is sure to have taken benefit from what was his first appearance in Brisbane.

Debuting for second in the Schweppes Maiden Plate (1100m) at Canterbury on February 3rd, the Redoute’s Choice colt ran fifth in the More Than Just Winning Maiden (1200m) before finishing a credible third in the Light Horse Maiden Plate (1400m) on April 25th.

One of many talented two-year-olds blooded by Godolphin this time, Souchez will relish a step-up in distance after finishing third in the Champagne Classic a fortnight ago.

Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, Souchez charged home to win the Schweppes Plate (1100m) at Rosehill on December 19th before returning to the paddock for a freshen-up.

Running on for third in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) on February 27th, the Lonhro colt produced a particularly scintillating effort to win the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) on March 12th.

Peter and Paul Snowden are set to launch a multi-pronged attack in the BRC Sires Produce Stakes after including both Attention and Jericho in nominations.

The 2016 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
