The 2011 BRC Sires Produce Stakes will be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday. At this early stage the best backed runners have been Peter Snowden pair Benfica and Free Wheeling. We take a look at the 2011 BRC Sires Produce Stakes field and focus on their form and the odds you can expect come Saturday.

All prices are courtesy of Luxbet

1. Hot Snitzel (Jockey: Hugh Bowman/Trainer: Gerald Ryan) Current Odds: $5.50

Hot Snitzel was an impressive winner of the Ken Russell Memorial at the Gold Coast before finishing third behind Free Wheeling in the Champagne Classic. Gerald Ryan has suggested he may be ridden back. One of the main players.

2. Show A Prince (Glen Colless/Liam Birchley) $12.00

Has won two of his four career starts but faces a massive step in class here. He lacked the dash to go with them at the end of the Champagne Classic which suggests the more fancied runners may have his measure. This will be the first time he races away from Doomben.

3. Benfica (Kerrin McEvoy/Peter Snowden) $3.10

Absolutely toyed with the opposition at his last start when he won the listed Hampden Stakes at Doomben. Kerrin McEvoy had the choice between this colt and Free Wheeling and chose this one. Has shown lovely temperament in his races so far, and looks the one to beat.

4. Free Wheeling (Corey Brown/Peter Snowden) $4.00

Improving type who last start won the Champagne Classic, which may turn out to be a key form race here. Finished behind Benfica in the only race where the two Darley horses met each other which is a slight concern. Has been the best backed runner since markets opened, and must be respected.

5. Double Impact (Shane Scriven/Jackie Crompton) $31.00

Was finishing off OK when he ran fourth behind Free Wheeling in the Champagne Classic while his second behind Hot Snitzel in the Ken Russell Memorial looks better on paper than it did on the day. Has been there or thereabouts but can’t seem to get past the big boys. Place chance.

6. Mahisara (Jim Byrne/Paul Messara) $9.50

This undefeated colt could be the X-Factor in the race. Hasn’t really been tested in either of his wins against lower opposition. He is a free-wheeling front runner, so if they let him get away he might be hard to catch. Watch the betting moves.

7. Largo Da Barra (Opie Bosson/John Sargent) $31.00

Kiwi colt who was an impressive winner at his first Australian start at the Sunshine Coast. Managed to run a pretty good time on the rain affected Sunshine Coast track when he won. Would be advantaged if it rained. One of only two horses in the race that has won over the 1400m.

8. Shanghai Bund (Luke Nolen/John Sargent) $14.00

Another of the Kiwi John Sargent’s entries. Hard to get a handle on the maiden form from New Zealand but he was finishing off OK when sixth in the Hampden Stakes behind Benfica. Will appreciate the bigger Eagle Farm track.

9. Flashy Fella (Chad Ormsby/Michael Moroney) $35.00

Another former Kiwi who has made his way over for a crack at the BRC Sires Produce. Was unable to get within two lengths of the winner last time out in a Gold Coast maiden. Hard to see him winning this.

10. Military Grace (Dwayne Dunn/Gillian Heinrich) $51.00

Enjoyed a successful build up to the Gold Coast Magic Millions by winning twice, including once at Eagle Farm which is a plus. Only beat two home in the Magic Millions and finished well down the track at its last start in the Champagne Classic behind Free Wheeling.

11. Playtime (Scott Seamer/Todd Austin) $31.00

Lost consecutive races at Toowoomba and Mackay which doesn’t read well for this but finished a surprising third behind Benfica in the Hampden Stakes.

12. Dowager Queen (James McDonald/Graham and Debbie Rogerson) $7.50

New Zealand filly who has won at 1400m and 1600m, which is a big advantage in these two year old races. It’s hard to get a line on the New Zealand form but you have to respect a Savabeel filly from the Rogerson yard.

Punters are reminded that they are guaranteed the best odds if they bet with Luxbet

The 2011 BRC Sires Produce Stakes will be run at Eagle Farm racecourse on Saturday 4th June.

At present there are 21 horses nominated for the 1400m race which has a capacity field of 18, with the most likely to miss out being Gerald Ryan pair Extraceed and Liuzzi as well as the Michael Moroney trained Flashy Fella.

Peter Snowden, who has all but owned two year old racing this year has a strong hand in the BRC Sires Produce with Benfica and Free Wheeling considered among the top chances.

Benfica, a two year old colt by Lonhro, has raced three times for two wins, which included the Hampton Stakes over 1200m at Doomben on May 14.

Free Wheeling on the other hand broke his maiden status after four starts with a win in the Champagne Classic over 1200m at Doomben on May 21.

“Both Benfica and Free Wheeling are nice horses and both will be going on from the Sires to the TJ,” said Snowden.

“He (Free Wheeling) had a tendency to over-race early in his preparation, but he’s starting to relax now. I’m sure when he gets to 1400m he will be even better and even a mile after that,” commented Snowden.

Another given a winning hope in the 2011 BRC Sires Produce is the Gerald Ryan trained Hot Snitzel.

Hot Snitzel showed promise earlier in the two-year old season, running placings in the Skyline and Kindergarten Stakes before demolishing the field in the Ken Russel Memorial at the Gold Coast on May 7.

That run of form saw him start as favourite for the Champagne Classic, where he ran third behind Free Wheeling.

“Obviously the Darley horses are the ones to beat,” said Ryan

“But Hot Snitzel is well. I was up there at the weekend and was pleased with how he looked,”continued Ryan.

The BRC Sires Produce Stakes is the last lead in race before the last two year old Group 1 of the year, the TJ Smith Stakes.

Peter Snowden has captured the other four two year old Group 1 races this season. He won the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper with Sepoy, before Helmet took the AJC Inglis Sires Produce and Champaign Stakes.

Punters are reminded that they can get the best dividend in the country if they bet with Luxbet.

Morphettville Parks continued the extremely successful Adelaide Cup Carnival with another tremendous instalment of the SA Sires Produce Stakes.

There were plenty of chances going into the race with a host of horses coming off good last start results.

In the end though the unbeaten Cute Emily made it three from three with another impressive win for Peter Moody.

With the run of the race from gate one she was always going to be a major player in the race and Cahill insured she had a perfect run before they rounded the turn.

Win For Wilson was right in the race and so to Cash Bound and Triple Asset.

In the end though it was Cute Emily which ran strongest to the line with Win For Wilson battling on for second.

Cash Bound held out Triple Asset for third place meaning the John Keys runner missed a place for the first time.

Cute Emily paid $4.30 for the win at online bookmaker Luxbet..

Peter Snowden’s Helmet proved to be the best of a quality field when the two-year-old won the $500,000 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes last Saturday April 9, 2011.

The Exceed And Excel colt added a tidy $300,000 to his career prize earnings when he stormed to victory, winning the 2011 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes by half a length ahead of Uate, who finished in second and Pane In The Glass, who finished third.

Helmet has now won three of his four horse racing race starts, and has not once failed to finish inside the placings.

The two-year-old was paying odd of $4.60 for the win at Luxbet, while race favourite Elite Falls finished well back in seventh place.

Peter Snowden was more than happy with Helmet’s efforts in Saturday’s AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

“That’s a huge effort. He’s had a really stop start preparation,” Snowden said.

“To his credit he hung in there and held out on the line and I’m very happy with his efforts.”

Helmet will now be aimed at the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick Racecourse on April 23, 2011.

As expected with a big Group 1 like the AJC Sires Produce Stakes, betting the night before the race was heavy with plenty of cash invested on the 2011 event.

It was spread across most of the field with the only horses to drift out the two current favourites.

Do You Think is still the punters pick on Luxbet.com and has only moved out very slightly to $3.70, still nowhere near the $5.50 opening earlier in the week.

It’s a similar story for Elite Falls which came in quickly from $6.00 and has now settled at $3.80.

The bookies early 2011 AJC Sires produce Stakes Tip was Helmet and he continues to take money, now at $5.00 from $7.00 earlier on.

An even bigger mover though is Shared Reflections which is now a $9.00 hope, in four points form $13.

The unbeaten Uate looks excellent value at $10 even though that’s five point lower than his opening price.

Moving further into double figures is Pane In The Glass at $12 and the late Golden Slipper scratching Fast And Sexy at $15.

Exceed And Exalt is the biggest mover in the field with an opening $34 quote snapped up by punters right into just $19.

The other runners in the 2011 AJC Sires Produce stakes are Boys On Tour at $41, Kings Pact at $81 and Disputes another shortener at $19 in from $26.

The Sires Produce Stakes will jump sixth on the card at Randwick Racecourse at around 2:30pm local time.

Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy

Career Stats: 3s – 2w – 1p

Last Start: 1st at Rosehill

Can’t say a bad word about this colt, as honest and as hard working as they come. A winning favourite his last two starts and he’ll be close to repeating that with a third.

Bet on Helmet now at Luxbet

Jockey: Nash Rawiller

Career Stats: 3s – 3w – 0p

Last Start: 1st at Warwick Farm

Unbeaten from three and would have given the Golden Slipper a shake had he been nominated. It’s a red hot field but this is a red hot horse.

Bet on Uate now at Luxbet

#4 – Do You Think (Barrier – 8) (56.5kgs)

Jockey: Hugh Bowman

Career Stats: 2s – 2w – 0p

Last Start: 1st at Rosehill

Whispers are getting louder that this horse could be destined towards similar success of his famous sibling. A win here and he takes a massive step towards fulfilling the hype.

Jockey: Craig Williams

Career Stats: 4s – 1w – 1p

Last Start: 2nd at Rosehill

Almost qualified for the Golden Slipper after finishing second behind Salade in the Pago Pago Stakes. On the improve and could be a surprise.

Bet on Boys On Tour now at Luxbet

#6 – Exceed And Exalt (Barrier – 3) (56.5kgs)

Trainer: Guy Walter

Jockey: Nathan Berry

Career Stats: 2s – 1w – 1p

Last Start: 3rd at Rosehill

Third in the Pago Pago in his second start after winning a Canterbury maiden. Blinkers on but will need to find at least three lengths.

Bet on Exceed And Exalt now at Luxbet

#7 – King’s Pact (Barrier – 9) (56.5kgs)

Trainer: David Payne

Jockey: Corey Brown

Career Stats: 3s – 1w – 0p

Last Start: 1st at Kensington

Slow start to his career but broke through in his last run to grab a Kensington maiden. Can’t see him figuring in this race.

Bet on King’s Pact now at Luxbet

#8 – Elite Falls (Barrier – 5) (54.5kgs)

Trainer: John O’Shea

Jockey: Jim Cassidy

Career Stats: 6s – 2w – 3p

Last Start: 3rd at Rosehill

Tremendous effort in the Golden Slipper to go from last to third down the home strait. Gets a decent barrier here and if O’Shea has her at 100 percent she’ll be very hard to beat.

Bet on Elite Falls now at Luxbet

#9 – Pane In The Glass (Barrier – 12) (54.5kgs)

Trainer: John P Thompson

Jockey: Jim Byrne

Career Stats: 5s – 3w – 2p

Last Start: 2nd at Rosehill

Got beaten in the Magic Night Stakes and the Sweet Embrace stakes but wasn’t too far away in either. Needs to find an extra gear but she’s not without her chances.

Bet on Pane In The Glass now at Luxbet

#10 – Shared Reflections (Barrier – 11) (54.5kgs)

Trainer: Gai Waterhouse

Jockey: Damien Oliver

Career Stats: 4s – 2w – 1p

Last Start: 6th at Rosehill

Golden Slipper runner so deserves plenty of respect, she finished sixth in that race. Won the Sweet Embrace Stakes but has her widest career barrier.

Bet on Shared Reflections now at Luxbet

#11 – Fast And Sexy (Barrier – 1) (54.5kgs)

Trainer: Chris Waller

Jockey: Glyn Schofield

Career Stats: 2s – 1w – 1p

Last Start: 3rd at Rosehill

Scratched from the Golden Slipper at the gates and Chris Waller is desperate to make amends. Third in the Reisling Stakes behind Satin Shoes and Elite Falls at their best so is certainly a good horse.

Bet on Fast And Sexy now at Luxbet

#12 – Disputes (Barrier – 10) (54.5kgs)

Trainer: Peter Snowden

Jockey: Joshua Parr

Career Stats: 3s – 0w – 2p

Last Start: 4th at Rosehill

Make no mistake that this horse will win races and she’ll be in the top half again here. Don’t think she can win this one though and may need another year or so to properly develop.

Bet on Disputes now at Luxbet

There are 12 two-year-olds in the 2011 AJC Sires Produce Stakes Final Field and just about all of them have made an impact so far during their careers.

In fact throughout the entire field only one horse, Disputes, is yet to win a race.

Their involvement isn’t limited to small races either with four of these horses saddling up for the Golden Slipper last weekend.

Unfortunately just two managed to jump from the gates though after both Smart Missile and Fast And Sexy were scratched at the gates after playing up in the stalls.

Elite Falls was the better of the runners with a barnstorming run down the home strait to claim third whilst Shared Reflections was solid in the closing stages finishing in sixth.

There’s no massive gap in class though with just about all of the runners in the Sires Produce Stakes touted as Slipper chances at some stage during their preparations.

Uate comes into the race in the best form as he’s yet to lose a race from his three starts.

In fact he would have been one of the Golden Slipper favourites had he been nominated for the event by connections earlier in the year.

Do You Think was the sole Golden Slipper emergency and fielded plenty of money wiht punters hopeful he’d gain a start.

It didn’t happen though and he was forced to run in an earlier event which he won easily as a short priced favourite.

Helmet is one of the more consistent runners in the field and has been steadily working his way up in terms of quality.

He’s won both races this preparation and Peter Snowden thinks he’s a genuine winning threat.

Exceed And Exalt was third in his attempt to gain automatic entry to the Golden Slipper, just missing out for Guy Walter.

He’s had just two runs and there’s no reason he can’t go two form three in the Sires Produce Stakes.

With such a quality 2011 AJC Sires Produce Stakes field picking a winner could be quite tough come Saturday at Randwick Racecourse.

The 2011 AJC Sires Produce Stakes nominations show that it could be the race of the day with one very special runner confirmed to line up.

Smart Missile was scratched in agonising circumstances for connections in the Golden Slipper after being ruled out by the vet after jumping in the stalls

A heated confrontation followed with jockey Glen Boss and stewards but Smart Missile didn’t get his chance at taking on Sepoy in the dry.

This weekend though it’s all about making up for lost time with Anthony Cummings more than happy with how his colt is progressing.

He passed a jump-out test with ease in front of stewards yesterday making him a certain starter for a shot at redemption.

”He walked in fine but was a bit edgy once he got in but jumped out fine,” Cummings said.

”He had a good gallop on Sunday morning on the course proper. There is nothing wrong with him, which makes it a little frustrating. We just have to try and keep them unbeaten now, and that starts on Saturday.”

There are still 112 nominations trying to jag one of the 16 spots in the race meaning the star list is still very much undecided.

2011 AJC Sires Produce Stakes final fields will be made available later in the week as well as expert tips and form guides.
